WTB: Model 700 Remington

My daughter's boyfriend ( A Marine who served our country on the ground in Afghanistan) is attending gunsmithing school and needs a Remington Model 700 to use as a platform to build a custom rifle. Short or long action, caliber not important. Really just needs the action. He will sell the gun when complete soooo, anybody looking to have something built may be able to strike a deal. I have seen some of his work and this man is talented. He is a perfectionist. Chance to give back to a vet who served us courageously and is working hard to assimilate back into civilian life. I believe I can help you. I have a 700 ADL in .30-06 that I bought in about 1970 or '71 with the idea to make something like a scout rifle with my kitchen table gunsmithing skills. This was before I had ever heard of a scout rifle. The barrel is cut off about 3 inches, the stock has been pruned down with a rasp and the whole thing has been sitting for 40 years. Storage has not always been in good conditions, so some small parts are rusty, but I believe the action and barrel are good, with maybe some surface rust. When I send this reply, I will go down to the Skunk Works and pull this old timer out of the cabinet and verify that what I have written is correct.

I paid $100 for this rifle and am not looking to make money off it, especially in its less-than-sterling condition. Would take $100 plus shipping. I have a pawn shop near me that will handle the FFL shipping part. I don't take PayPal, as I seldom sell anything online. Postal M.O. will work.

Nice gesture. My son completed gunsmith school and now works for one of the top restoration places in the country..... Great fulfilling profession.
