Description
I am looking for an appropriate 1966 vintage scope for a 9.5" single six. Some may know of the drilled and tapped one I just got. Well if it's got the holes already I may as well fill them with the right attachment.
If anyone has one they want to sell let me know and we will see if we can work something out.
Thank Chuck

Can you be a bit more specific on your wants ? I have several vintage scopes that may work for you. There are not a lot of pistol scopes from they time period. Bushnell had the Phantom LER and a few other makes.

Regards

I hate to say it Kevin but no. The biggest reason is because I have no idea what would be appropriate. And like you say there is not a lot of choices. Do you have a Bushnell you would part with?

I should add that I would need rings as well. I'm not with the gun now but it seems that it has 2 holes above the cylinder and 1 in the barrel.

Your description of the threaded holes could indicate it was D & Td for a Bushnell. Yes . I have one. I can send photos if you will furnish an email.

I had that issue and I sent it to a gunsmith to weld up the holes and refinish. I couldn't find a mount to match the holes.

Chuck,

This came off of a 357 Flattop that I picked up awhile back. Don't know the year, or when it was added to the Flattop. I also had the mount at one time........no clue where it is now.

1.3X magnification.

Did you get the photos I sent you?
No. But here is the gun
20160911_215028_zpsetkxyymy.jpg

If you held a ruler on the screw closes the rear sight the measurements would be 7/8" to the second one and 3 15/16" to the one in the barrel.

Looks like a Bushnell Phanom mount holes, possibly. Did you get my
Photos? They are the same ad ones posted.

So here is a new question. After doing some looking around it seems that most of the scopes I find use the two holes in the top strap for mounting. What is the hole in the barrel for?

Regarding the threaded hole in the barrel: I have observed several Ruger revolvers that were d&t with one hole on the top strap and barrel as well as two d&t hole in the top strap. Maybe positioning of the scope was wrong and relocated. Still believe it was for a Phantom Bushnell. The Phantom was a first generation attempt at mounting a scope on a revolver, with a LER. It was not the same science then as it is now.

You could just fill the threaded holes with plug screws and run with it. I still have the Phantom,'if it will fit. I sent the measurements C-C.

Regards
