My Florida CCW expires in early March and rather than send in my $60 and WAIT 8-10 weeks for the new card to show up, I went down to the Tampa Regional Office of the "FL Dept of Agriculture and Consumer Services" and 45 minutes later AND $60 lighter, walked out the door with a brand New Plastic laminated CCW permit with my picture on it and GOOD until 2023.

Just renewed mine in November...took about 2wks to get it. I took my daughter down to apply for her first one on Dec 21st and she had it in her hand on New Years Eve...couldn't believe that my renewal...had one since I was 18yrs old...took longer than her first one. I am glad that she got it quick as she goes back to college on Monday, the 11th, so she will be able to have her gun on campus...just can't carry it to class.

And they even provide the photos! They've come along ways since '88.

Can't carry it to class? They don't gots to know. The whole point of having a gun is to protect yourself, regardless of where you are, especially at night on a college campus coming and going to/from classes and activities.. Leaving it in a dorm/apartment does absolutely no good. College campus is not the safest place on the planet, day or night.

+1 - Not to mention than ;eaving the gun behind, like in her dorm room, isn't exactly what I'd describe a a secure environment.

My youngest Daughter CCW's a S&W M-37 Airweight, AND a 2-shot Kimber Pepper gun for dogs of all kinds (2 or 4 legged).

The BEST PART of that $60 is that the Florida Legislators CAN'T touch it thanks to a Constitutional Amendment they insisted on which specified that the CCW permitting process HAD to pay for itself and setting up an account separate from the State Funds. A couple of years ago, they were eyeing the EIGHT MILLION DOLLARS sitting in the CCW fund and wanted to snatch it for some "feely good" project and they got their sticky fingers SLAPPED down HARD by the Fl Supreme Court.
That Fund is Reserved for any and all costs of the CCW process and for UP DATING (modernizing) the process when needed.
Sure was fun to read all the belly aching, urinating and moaning.

I might let my Florida non-res permit expire next year. I got it awhile back because Florida's permit was honored in WA. It was a lot easier for me to get that one than drive up to WA for one of theirs. But then WA quit honoring Florida's permits because they decided to let ex and current military people have permits beginning at 18. That was more than the crappy libs in WA could stand so instead of honoring only FL permits held by those 21 and above they just dropped reciprocity with FL. Extra crappy of WA since there's a large military presence in that state, seems to me it a person can carry a rifle for the US then they ought to be able to CCW in any state at age 18.
On second thought I'll renew my FL permit because FL did the right thing and it was WA that did the dirt.

Even the states with Constitutional carry, have a concealed carry permit. It's like a scam for now. You don't need a card UNLESS you go to another state. You'd think they would work it like a DL. If you don't need an ID for CC, why do you NEED one somewhere else. They act like they don't expect people to travel at all.
