"Just you look at that dirt on the back of your neck?"
10. *My mother taught me about STAMINA**.*
"You'll sit there until all that spinach is gone."

13. *My father taught me the CIRCLE OF LIFE*.
"I brought you into this world, and I can take you out..."
14. *My mother taught me about BEHAVIOUR MODIFICATION.*
"Stop acting like your father!"
15. *My mother taught me about ENVY**.*
"There are millions of less fortunate children in
this world who don't have wonderful parents like you do."
16. *My mother taught me about ANTICIPATION**.*

Yes indeed!!! I've heard most of them.

All I ever heard was;

That girl will go far if nobody hangs her first.
The very fact that girl is still breathing is proof that I'm a patient man.
Girl, there are better ways of getting a point across than stabbing someone with it.
<insert first, middle and last name> keep in mind you have the right to remain silent, right now is a good time for you to exercise it.

Sounds like you were a very lively child!!!

It's GOOD to have a dad who was a boxer in his youth.

I always knew how much trouble I was in by how many names my mother used. If it was just (insert first name),... not much trouble. If it was (insert first name and middle name).... oh boy!. If it was (insert first name, middle name and confirmation name).... I was looking at being grounded. If it was all of them with the last name for emphasis....oh $h!t

Grounded? You mean sit in your room and read and daydream? That's what I call punishment! Dad had this system he called demerits. Each demerit was worth one hour with an axe in a fence row chopping out brush and trees. It's been said that between my brother, two sisters, my three cousins and myself our little farm had the cleanest fence rows in northern Indiana. :( :(

On a similar note, I had a Grandfather & an Uncle named Merle. If an angry female voiced yelled "MERLE" all three of us would head for the barn - we would be safe there. However, if the culprit was identified by the use of additional names - two of us were safe!!!

Nope, it was when your mother got so mad that she started calling you her brother's names. "RICHARD, a CHARLIE, ahh LEON, dammit, HOWARD" and then you told her your name was "KARL". Have you ever seen an extension cord used as a Lasso? I have and it hurts badly. I, like Selena grew up on a farm/ranch and there were just to many things around that would get you whooped and to many things around to get whooped by.

Too my Dad's credit he never once hit me, although some of his 'punishments' were creative enough a paddling may have been preferable. One in particular, when I was 13 or 14 I was asked to attach the bush hog to a tractor and didn't check to see if the check snaps on the quick hitch had engaged. Needless to say when I started mowing (with Dad riding on the fender) one side came loose and...

His response was for me to dig a hole five feet deep and bury a newspaper then fill in the hole. Which with our particular soil is not a pleasant task. After the dumb hole was filled, the shovel put away and halfway to the house he asked me what the headline of the paper was... *sigh* Needless to say he made me dig the damn thing up read him the headline then bury it again. Once more halfway to the house he asked me who had the byline for the headline story...

And do you still remember??? :P

Merle: It only happened twice with me. Once with my female cousin. We were 10 or so and the little girl just kept pushing me, hitting me, generally being horrible/nasty. I remember it to this day and so does she. We have talked about it since then and get a good laugh. Well I walloped the girl and of course she balled and hooliehooed enough to get attention. That was the extension cord incident. If you have never been whooped with a heavy duty extension cord you missed out. Holy crap, it hurts. The other was when my sister kept ratting on me about trouble in school. She got me in trouble almost everyday being a rat. I got walloped over her week after week.

I know it is not right hitting a girl, but at the time she wasn't a girl, she was just another kid. Beat on me I beat on you. I learned real quick that wasn't right. LOL.
