Windage adjustable replacement front sight for a NV?

I had a few replacement front sights bookmarked, but I lost them in a computer crash.

I've been toughing it out with the skinny front sight blade on my stainless Talo birdshead New Vaquero, but I think it's time for me to face the reality of my changing eyesight and put something different up there. I've seen a few front sights made from Ruger MKII and MKIII sights, but I think I'd prefer something that is drift adjustable for windage. The ideal front sight would be a base that attaches to the barrel like a MKII sight with a dovetailed blade into that. I would consider a dovetail cut directly into the barrel, though.

Who should I be considering for this that can get the work done in a reasonable amount of time? This is journeyman gunsmithing, I really don't need to go to one of the big names.

OK, I've done more searching and am now leaning to having the barrel dovetailed for a Freedom Arms front blade as reviewed on Gunblast a few years ago.

This has always been my plan if I ever end up with a fixed sight gun that was not shooting where I wanted it. Go for it!

You can buy a dovetail file from Brownells. Quite a simple operation.

Note: use chalk on file to keep it from loading up.

When you widen the rear notch for the wider front sight, just widen it on the side you want to make your windage adjustment. If the bullets are impacting to left of center, widen the rear notch on the right side.

Two problems solved: a front sight you can see and a windage adjustment.
