During the numerous sales of last month, I bought a case of this ammo on a whim. I've found it difficult to load sub-sonic 300 ammo due to the significant powder compression required when using most common cannister powders. At the advertised price, I figured it was an OK deal. Yesterday between other outside tasks, I grabbed one of the AR 'pistols' with unmagnified dot optic and did a quick function/accuracy eval. This pistol is set up for full velocity ammo and the sub-sonics did not fully cycle the action (fired cases were ejected but fresh round was not chambered)-not uncommon so no foul.
Shooting at the 8" gong @ 100 yards from elbow support on the bench (no sandbags) first round hold was 8" high and bullet hit below the 8" plate. Adjusted hold to 12" high(above the target) and next three rounds produced a 3-4" group. VERY acceptable considering all factors.
Using a YHM Reasonator 'K', the sound was below that of a sub-sonic 22 rimfire fired from a rifle. I'm satisfied with this ammo and expect it to work well for it's intended purpose(s). The bullets seem 'soft' so steel target damage at this range shouldn't be a problem AND they might cause more damage to 'soft targets' even though they're not advertised to expand.
