Will they Fit?

I have a NM Blackhawk. I'd like a steel grip frame installed. I have factory ivory grips on it now. Will they fit the steel grip frame? Thanks BHK

Short answer, yes.
Long answer, be sure to use the same XR3-RED size grip frame. It would have to be for the SBHs with 5 1/2" barrel or shorter.
Blue steel GF marked XR-3 (the dash is important).
Stainless marked: early = KXR-3, next = KXR-3 with a separated N, latest = K in a circle XRN-3

What vintage is your NM Blackhawk? If not sure, what is the serial #?
The later the grip frame you get, the less chance the ears around the hammer will be too short. If you buy a new one, no problem, it will have to be fitted, polished and blued anyway.

Well the Ser # 48-49768. Well I was gonna send it to Gallagher, and didn't want to buy new grips, as I like them. I like how it shoots, I want a brass bead front sight and the sights adjusted to my load. I already have Bowen rear sight on it just like the bead in front. BHK

I used a 10/22 front bead sight from Brownells. It's on a dovetail. Once I determined the height I needed with my original front sight by filing down or building up with JB weld, I cut off my original sight blade. Then filed a dovetail in the Ruger base at the right level for the 10/22 bead sight to be at the same height that I determined correct for my loads. Not difficult to do and simple for a gunsmith to do. Also Marble and Lyman lists sights on dovetails in several different heights on their websites.

When you say your NM Blackhawk has Factory Ivory Grips on it I assume you mean Simulated Ivory Grips. As Ruger stopped selling the real Ivory grips sometime in the late 1950s. And those factory Ivory grips will not fit your NM Blackhawk.

Yes, they are simulated ivory ordered off the Ruger web site. Yes, when I send my NM blackhawk to Gallagher I hope he will match the grip frame with the grips since he has several types? BHK
