Ijust bought a new mkIII with the small barrel and fixed sights. Will the rear sight off a mkIII heavy barrel fit the dovetail for the fixed sight. The fixed sight is real close to right but I prefer the adjustable sight to the fixed sight.

Yes, it will fit.
No, it won't work as the adjustable sight is too high relative to the front sight.
Try a google search for wilson low profile sights.

You can use the LPA version which will work with the factory front. Midway sells them.
