When my TCP came apart Taurus sent me a shipping label for UPS so there was no cost to send it to them.
I'm sure they do ... Ive heard that as well ... People just make stuff up and post it as if its fact ... Hoping nobody verifies it.
The facts are that the current Ruger is really no better than Taurus. While Taurus has been improving for the last 5 years, Ruger has been going downhill ... Especially now that they're really concentrating on pushing the plastic junk, and moving quantity rather than quality.
The Ruger fanboys can crow as much as they want about how great their LC whatever is, but the facts are known by people who have owned Ruger products for 2-3 decades, and have been following the company forever.
Ruger has at least as much of a QC and recall problem as Taurus does. Probably worse. Even their bedrock products have suffered with QC issues, and it really seems as if their new strategy is to put out big numbers and hope that the stuff doesn't come back, or hope that the owners don't shoot the guns enough to have the inherent problems manifest themselves.
Good for stockholders ... Not so much for the gun owners ....
Exactly the reason that most knowledgable Ruger owners here will only buy used, older Ruger guns .... And that's after a very thorough inspection. It's just not worth the gamble any more with the stuff that's coming out of the factory these days. My last new SBH was a disaster ... The barrel was crooked, it was scratched in places, and the rear sight broke after about a month. I sent it back ... It was fixed, and I sold it. It will probably be the last new Ruger I'll ever buy. Really a shame.
