Ordered from Altamont yesterday. Again. Fine products, great service.
I have always sent a mo or check and never had any delay while waiting by the mailbox.

But now you have to order online using Paypal. Which we all know is a major dedicated contributor to organizations which work to infringe on gun ownership nationwide... Anti-civil rights. Now Paypal has your cc info and address... And more so, they know you have guns. Of course we have no control over how they use your info.

Altamont is not alone, and I feel a good list is needed to communicate the concept of liberty and civil rights, to the shareholder relations of each such manufacturer...

Meantime, list anyone herein, if you know they use PayPal, applepay, etc. Or any company that works or contributes against us.

This is not political, this is an intelligence test.

I thought Paypal would cancel your account if you tried to buy anything gun related?

I don't use paypal at all, i'm just too old fashioned. It is a hassle to me, so much easier (at least for me), to make a call and order with credit card, or even send a check or money order. I have passed on buying quite a few times because a vendor required me to use paypal. I simply find another vendor/manufacturer. Altamont is not the only game in town.

"Why does Altamont do that?"

Because folks will still buy from them; using PayPal or not.

I used Paypal for ten years while I was selling grips. Never had a problem and it worked great. It was easy to send a customer an email Paypal invoice. All they had to do was click on a link to pay me. Very convenient.

Some folks will not deny themselves instant gratification, damn the cost (and I don't mean dollars)...……

I NEVER patronize PayPal, or the business' which deal with them.

After spending 6 weeks getting $1600.back for a fraudulent charge after I called and told them it was. They still paid it 24 hr later and the fight was on.

I'm sure they have a team of lawyers trying hard to recover from that business downfall.

I’m guessing the did it for the same reason I did, scammers. After dealing with stolen cards and a variety of clever scams I now only accept purchases through PayPal. The way I have it set up you do not need a PayPal account to purchase but PayPal is now on the hook if the card is stolen, not me.

When I used to send people Paypal Invoices, they did not need a Paypal account to click on them and pay me either.

Hi,

Doing everything thru PayPal has made life far easier for a few of my clients. Same reasons already stated: they don't have to chase their money, but PayPal will. I expect in light of the Wayfair decision concerning interstate sales taxes, the bookkeeping will be easier, too. PayPal seems to do a pretty good job of providing all the info we need right now, and I hope they still do with these new laws. It also makes me feel better about buying from small vendors I don't know.

I don't have the time to fake outrage about a company because they're anti-whatever, and really don't have time for folks to tell me how stupid I am for patronizing that business. Don't want to do business with a particular vendor? Fine, don't. I won't criticize you for your choice. But if it's not mine, and you don't approve, keep it to yourself. We'll all get along better!

Hi Rick,
I posted the OP in disgust and wonder - why a company that bases its entire product line upon consumers/makers that depend on the Second Amendment - would also place its customers in a requirement to patronize, contribute to organizations actively working against them ?

Don't mean to put you out, don't mean to make you 'fake outrage', and am not calling you stupid for patronizing any business. One might wear Levis or Dockers for all I know. But I won't "keep it to... myself" as you direct. I don't have to. Yet. Until the democrats get their way. Hmmm... By now I'm sure you re-read the words above. No shortage of those who'd rationalize anything for personal temporary convenience.

I don't have a list of 'boycott' businesses (the NRA and others do just fine). But if Ruger only sold their ShopRuger stuff through Ebay, well Id not keep that to myself either.

Its all about personal choices

I used to use PayPal a lot when I had my shop for refurbishing neglected old Goldwings. Bought and sold quite a few parts through eBay using paypal, a couple thousand or so transactions with no problem. It was a very good service to have available to me then.

Hi,

Well, Sam, you said something about an intelligence test in your OP, so here's a question for you:

Why don't you simply write or call Altamont and just ask them? Get an answer straight from the horse's mouth! Hey, you could even tell them how you're never going to buy anything from them again. I'm sure that will bring them right to their senses. That would be the intelligent thing to do if you really want an answer instead of just showing us you're disgusted. And being the ever positive and altruistic person you are, perhaps you'll be overjoyed to share their response with us!

Before this devolves into a couple guys using each other as scent posts....

As much as I hate PP I use them for my business. I don't take a lot of credit cards, but do online. It is the only cost effective way to handle CC's without paying more than you are are getting in. It is also a great way to deal with international sales which I do quite a bit.

In the world we live in we cannot always bypass every vendor we hate.

I hate Kroger's but we have one other grocery store within 20 miles, but we do have four Kroger's in the area. Both have produce that should be pulled off the shelf and not offered for sale, but those are our choices.

I ordered from them but will not use eBay/PayPal. Not hard to figure out from the op.

Rick, don't try to insult me. Its not a debate. I have principles.

Just saying, it makes no sense to me to complain about gun rights erosion when we have to look no further than our members for willing contributors to the antis.

It is said. Might as well lock this up. No replies necessary.

People not only vote with their pocketbook, they shop with it too.

I know more than a few local guys who rail against this or that but when it's the cheapest ...... they go price every time. Local business owners whine about WalMart killing local mom and pop grocery stores, tire shops, etc .... but they shop there every week.

Human nature.

I guess it all boils down to one thing. If you're willing to do without something on a principle then so be it. You're doing without something that a lot of other people are not willing to do without. I'm not one of those people. I have only one life to live and I'll try to make it the best that I can.

I'm just not willing to sit on my couch without something and feel good about it on a principle. Some of you people are so gung ho about that principle that you figure that you have to come on here a brag about it. Well, I don't care. Go ahead and sit on your couch and be miserable because of a principle. That doesn't affect my life one bit.

I'll buy what I want, when I want it and from who I want and when I'm enjoying whatever I bought, I'll think of you and your principle. You run your life the way you feel you need to and I'll do the same.

I guess I'm similar to Cary in that I'm somewhat unprincipled when it comes to something I need/want. If I have a choice I'll avoid places like Dick's but if they're the only one that has what I want that I can afford on my retirement I'll go there. I've probably got less than 10-12 years to go and less than that when I can do the things I like to do. For that reason I'll get and do what I want. I don't like the way I hear Amazon treats their employees, but I'll shop with them if I can save money. Same with Walmart or what ever.
For one thing these stores including Dicks and Field and Stream employ folks from my town. Not bad jobs either for that matter for people who don't aspire for higher paid work. If Chick Fila comes here I'll go there too. I avoid Starbucks because I don't like coffee and the smell of it is overwhelming there. Not to mention it's too expensive for me.

So live and let live. I have a brother who's a demoncrat, due to his Clinical Psychologist Phd. I don't boycott him either. Life's too short to get in a snit over this stuff.

Hi,

It's been so long since I first heard this I don't recall where, when or who was involved. But it was very simple: "The graveyards are full of people who got there standing on principle." I suppose there are a number of ways to interpret that...
