Why do we still have Diet Coke?

My new years resolution is to try to cut my consumption of diet sodas at least in half and eventually to practically none. I've gotten to where I never reach for water, just diet soda. Expensive and not good for you. We will see how it goes.
I agree with you--- all of them have their tastes that appeal to many, they refresh and you don't get DUI's drinking them--but it is junk fluid into your body drinking it. We stopped it all 20 years ago when we realized we were hooked, just water since. So how many Rugers and Winchesters do I have that would have been empty coke cans? 3 bucks for a coke at a cafe? No way!

I very seldom drink soft drinks. My wife drinks the diet drinks. I don't get it. I'd rather drink water than that. I used to drink soft drinks. I quit drinking them once for six weeks for a Daniel fast thing. After that I realized I didn't miss them. These days it is water first thing in the morning. Then black coffee on the way to work. I drink water at work & coffee & sweet tea in the evening. About every six months or so I might drink a soft drink, maybe.

Drank plenty soda as a kid but over the last 25 years I may drink 1 or 2 bottles of soda a year. The wife drinks Caffeine free diet Coke every day.

Real Coke is all I like and I don't even drink it because it's SO UNHEALTHY. Y'all killin' yourselves one grody diet coke at a time. Tastes like battery acid and yes, I have tasted battery acid more than once. Y'all prolly like Bleu Cheese dressing too. BATTTERY ACID!

Diet Shasta, Blue Cheese, Mayo. I also like the old school holiday Fruitcake, but I can’t find it anymore. (You know the stuff- dark, lots of candied fruit, hard as a rock).

Both the Diet Shasta and the Fruitcake taste even better with rum…

I've never had a piece of fruitcake. Ironic because I've sold hundreds of pounds of the stuff. My Sunday school had an annual fundraiser, Claxton fruitcake (https://www.claxtonfruitcake.com), and top seller would get a prize of $5 (a fortune to a kid in 1969). I usually won the prize. Door to door fruitcake sales.

I did really like the Coca-Cola they had when I was a kid. It was somewhat of a rare treat to get one. Nothing like drinking an ice cold coke in a glass bottle on a hot summer day.

Really good with peanuts in it too.

OK, for post number 52 I’ll give you my opinion🤣
My doctor tells me that anything that is colored whether it be Coke root beer iced tea or coffee is bad for you. And if I continue to drink that stuff, my favorite was sweet iced tea, it was going to kill my kidneys, so my kidneys are half shot and I’ve quit drinking all the colas.
Mostly, I drink water and I keep bottles in the refrigerator all the time. My most expensive thing is changing the water filter in my refrigerator every quarter for 65 bucks a pop. Yes I try to cut back on plastic bottles and refill my empty bottles from the refrigerator. For an extra treat every so often I’ll have a ginger ale.

Life without caffeine is not something I am willing to face. I do try to limit my soda, but probably still drink too much anyway.

After my morning caffeine kick, I switch to ice water in my yetti, usually with a shot of tart cherry juice.

Do you water drinkers add anything to it?

I drink a lot of water and after a bout of kidney stones six months sent me to the hospital that nearly killed me I often squeeze some lemon juice in my ice water on recommendation of my doc. I like lemon in it anyway but now I have an actual medical reason to do so.

Personally… I want a life where a question like this would even have time to cross my mind and then time to sit down and post it on a gun forum.

Thank God you managed to free up a minute or two to reply. :)

I quit Dr. Pepper a few years ago when I was found to be mildly diabetic, along with adjustments in the rest of my diet. For a few years I was drinking Minute Maid zero sugar lemonade. About 2 years ago I went to just Ozarka bottled water, plus milk in cereal. Maybe 2-3 times a year I'll drink a few ounces of diet soda, if they have D.P., with a meal. Otherwise it's 99.997% COLD water. Nothing added. Pollution free, to the extent that's even possible. :)
