White Christmas?

Out here on the Great Plains, we will have one. It has snowed several times recently, about a half inch at a time so we have about an inch and a half to maybe 2 inches on the ground. As per usual, the wind blows constantly, making it difficult to spend much time outdoors, but it is white and bright.

Well wishes coming from South Dakota to everyone here, even those who just have to argue about dern near anything.

This morning I left the house for errands and it was sunny. Five miles away once on the ridge it turned into a dang blizzard. By the time I got to the store a couple miles further there was a couple inches down and very gusty. I texted a video to my Son at home and he replied it was still sunny. I had to drive into another town about 15 miles away after that and it must of been snowing all ight as it was all plowed up on the sides of the road. I'm back home now....it's still sunny and not a flake to be seen. Weather can be crazy.

We never have a White Christmas.
That said, we live at the base of a mountain with often year 'round skiing.
Many times we've driven up the mountain just so we could experience a White Christmas, and we will do it again this year on Christmas eve, but the forecast is saying it will be above freezing. Fortunately, there's nearly 6-feet of snow at Timberline, so it will still be quite white.

It was iffy. We had a few inches then we had two days of 45*F and rain. We had 2-3 yesterday and it is going to stay cold until the 26th. Looks like we're in. Then three more 40* and rain.

I haven't seen snow since the mid 70's, and I don't miss it in the least but I do love the pics.

Funny I grew up in the backwoods and skied the few miles downhill to the slopes and stayed all day till they shut down the tow ropes.

We had a dusting of snow here in the Valley Forge area of Pa last night. Freezing temperatures and high winds to go along with the flurries. Cold as a witches txxxx today.

No snow here for two weeks. Very warm days for this time of year. It normally would be below 30 degrees (F). "Normally" means my observation here over the past 25 years which is hardly a valid statistical sample. For the past ten days it has been in the high 40s and sunny. Nights are about where they normally are in single or low double digits. I guess this the result of the Climate Change Global Warming which does not exist except in the minds of liberals and Meteorologists. .

Here, in SE Nebraska, we haven't had any measurable snow since January 18th of this year.
No white Christmas for us.

I understand the hassle. For us, snow pack is critical for the summer irrigation growing season. No snow pack, no irrigation. No farm production. So, snow desirable here.

It snowed 7-8" of light fluffy stuff yesterday when the high was 18. I got out and carefully plowed, trying not to tear up the driveway which still hasn't frozen up (it was in the 40s and rainy last week).

Temp this morning when I got up was 2. I don't see how we won't have a white Christmas.

That's the forecast for my son's place 1.5 hours north and up a bit in elevation, where we will be for Christmas. Temps here are generally 3-5 degrees warmer here (for example, it is -2 up there now and +3 here).

Snowed like crazy on Friday and now it is all gone, but it is colder than a well diggers feet. Low teens at 0800 this morning.

Been below freezing here since Friday and will stay that way at least through next Thursday. Looking like a 2" storm on Christmas eve so it should be a "white Christmas". Luckily we don't have to travel in it and I no longer plow for a living.

Well, sorry folks, it looks like I lied. It is supposed to be near 40 degrees for the next couple of days, so not much snow will be left by Christmas Day.

I don't think there is too much danger of a white Christmas here South of Atlanta. Most of the times I remember us getting snow were all pretty much around March. Our recent weather has been up & down like a yo-yo. Heck in Georgia we might hit 3 or 4 seasons in one day.

Once again I have been proven less than right. NWS now predicting a 40 per cent chanced of rain and snow on Christmas Day and slightly lower for Christmas night.

Definitely having a white Christmas in the hills of Northeast VT. A couple of weeks ago we had 18" of fluffy snow on the ground and after some rain and warmish weather still have 7 or 8 inches. It was below zero this morning. Merry Christmas everyone.
