Where 'da rings go??

Just picked up a used 77-22, with unmounted Ruger rings, but they are different heights. Someone told me one is front (muzzle) and one rear (breech). Which is which??

Shorter one should be the front one - at least it was for my Hawkeye.

No, 77/22 rings should both be the same height like for the No. 1. If your rings are different heights, you got centerfire rings.
