Started a new thread to not hijack Colonialgirl's thread '100 year old plate glass images'.
I was intrigued by the ninth image and have never seen a rig like that one. Looks to me like some sort of fire fighting equipment or maybe the circus is in town. I'm sure the experts here know exactly what it is.

It's called a "Water Tower". Used for fighting fires in the multi-story dwellings in the photo. .
