What scope do you all recommend for a .4 carbine? I guess it's a short range gun, so maybe a low power variable or fixed? What do you all say?

Got a 1.75-4x32 Bushnell Trophy with the Circle X reticle on my 96/44.

I recently obtained a Ruger Deerfield .44 carbine
and just mounted a Leupold 1x4 x20 VX HOG scope
on it. It is short and light and is a perfect fit for the
Deerfield. Sighted in dead on at 100 yds. with
21 gr Alliant 2400 and 240 gr Hornady XTP at 1700 fps.
Deer season starts Saturday. We have harvested several
deer with the 240 XTP in lever action and muzzleloader. Haven't
had one get away yet. Check out Optics Planet
for scopes, a good place to look. I was going to get the
Weaver 1x3x20 but it
was out of stock at the time. It gets good reviews and
is a tad less expensive as well. Ruger .44 carbine is a dandy.

Mine carries a Redfield 1.5-5 Widefield that is almost as old as the gun itself..... great scope for a close quarters deer rifle here in MD... originally in NY also

Mine had a 1-4x Leupold for a bit but now wears a Williams WGRS receiver sight. Out to 100 yards groups remain the same even with these declining eyes.

I have a Bushnell 1.5X4.5 on my .44 Carbine. Not a high dollar scope, but it works well and will hold 2.5" groups at 100 yds. I did the Williams peep with a fiber optic front for many years and my eyes got too old.
