I've got a couple of SP101's and I much prefer the 3" model. I did recently buy a 2-1/4" because of the price but I certainly have more 3"ers. Just between these two models which is your preference? Wondering if I'm in the norm.

I like all the lengths, but my current favorite is the 3 inch. Mine is in 327 Federal.
2-1/4" is my preference in an SP101. Any longer and I go to a Security Six/Speed Six in 2-3/4".
3”. Seem like the extra 3/4” makes a big difference in shootability.

I shot a few before deciding on a 3 inch .357. It's so versatile and accurate. From mild 148 WCs, to 158 JHPs over max charges of H110, it hits where aimed.

My preference is the 2.25" SP101 in 357mag that I currently own. Nothing wrong with the 3". Would feel comfortable with either length for that matter.

Both are great but the 3" models definitely look better.
I have a 3 inch because when I was buying, they didn’t make a 4 inch barreled SP.

Me too Gramps. My newest is 2012 or something close. Still like the 3" but I do need another 4". For my purpose I'm curious about the demand for the 2 barrel lengths listed.

Yep, either barrel length. That's why I like them so much. I would have guessed that 2/3 that sold were 3" and maybe 1/3 were 2-1/4. But it looks like from this little survey, it's about 50/50. Who would have thought???

I would have to say the 4”, since they dont make the 3” with adjustable sights.

Hmmm. I have a 2” .22 and a 4” full lug .22 along with a newer 8-shot 4” w/ fiber optic front sight. I also have 3” and 4” 32 mag SP101’s. The 3” and 4” 327 Federals are also in the stable along with the 9mm.
I don’t have any in .38 or .357!! :shock:
Honestly, the 4” full lug 22LR I bought in 1993 is my favorite SP.

I like both, but prefer the 3". The 3" seems larger than a J frame and smaller than a K frame. I nice in-between trail gun that is still concealable. The 2.25 inch is nice in it's own right. It reminds me of a nice robust Colt Detective Special

3" .38 Spl. This was before they made the .357 Mag. Great balance. Painted the front sight with hot pink fingernail polish (borrowed from by Daughter-in-law,not mine). I like the combo of trench sight & colored front sight better than the adjustable rear/front green dot sights on my other two.

3” 357 Mag. but since they are fixed sighted my favorite “Sp” is not a 101, but rather a blued Security Six 4”.

Just bought a 2.25in .357---------had a 3in and bobbed hammer versions but neither really worked out--mostly due to the lack of viable holsters at the time.
The new one might not work out either as its already being sent back to Ruger--purchased NIB on 12-31-18 and only dry fired---too dangerous for live ammo-----the hammer pin worked its way out every time I would reset it and dry fire after only 4 or 5 cycles.
