Either my NM Vaquerro Sheriff .44spec or the NM BH FT 44spec with the 5.5" barrel. Your thoughts, does a PPP = a WWG ? Same/same ? I'm wondering if the different terms bring different handguns to mind for ya.. For me, my 3" Bulldog 44spec makes the list for PPP, yet when woods walking gun was asked for, it didn't. Hey Jimbo, by Pm if ya want, but your thoughts as to why 2 snake loads first up ? Curious. During warm weather yard work, here or at camp, or fishing at camp, I'll load either a CCI or one of my pest loads, but only one. Can't recall hearing of anyone going with two. It's a matter of figuring out your most likely threat while keeping in mind the worst case scenario I guess.

For me ppp congers up one type of gun, typically my LCR, or even an SP101, or the Charter Arms Bulldog, and maybe some semi's, while my WWG is typically a revolver period. I'm with you I can't imagine two snake shot first up, never ran into more than one snake at a time. Guess it could happen, but I doubt they would both be a threat. Never been that far south.

In my line of work I do "woods walking" pretty often. Like in every other thread of this type, my answer is still 3" hammered SP101 in .357 for work (woods carry). Pretty simple, as I tend to use the same gun for at least 50% of my "off the job carry" too. But I'm a simple person too :D

Well, I don't walk the woods like I used to, but if I did, it would be with the gun I used to always have with me since '75, my Avatar .22 Single Six. There's no doubt I'd also be carrying my no dash S&W 696 .44 Special. I never go shooting without that little gem! I never thought I could become so attached to a newer gun like I have with that 696.

My woods guns have changed over time and may change some more in the future. For now it's a 2 1/2" S&W 66 or my 4 5/8" Blackhawk .45. The 66 recently joined the stable and bumped a 4" model 15. The .45 has been a favorite for over a dozen years.

When in the Minnesota North Woods I carry my 4" GP100 or my 5" 629 Classic.

At home I have recently changed what I carry. It used to be a custom SP101 but that one seems to have moved out west
Now I carry my SR22 or my Liberty SS Single Six when I want a 22 pistol. I recently brought my S & W 337 Titanium out of the safe and carry it when I want a little more power or want to shoot shot capsules.

I haven't gone walking through the woods just for the fun of it in years, but my most used sidearm is a Uberti SAA in 45LC caliber. Reason is, it's allways done a real-good job at about any task that I'd put a 6-gun to. I'm real certain that if that also included a stroll though the S/E Texas woods, it'd be going along too.

Depends on which woods. Lower country and desert: a 4"Taurus in .357. Higher country: Bigger bears and now Wolves, A Ruger Blackhawk Convertible, loaded with stout .45 Colt .

I also only carry one snake load, and then fill the cylinder with my normal loads. I have found that even if the the snake shot doesn't kill it, the snake will roll up in a ball giving a more timed shot to dispatch it.

Never liking to be caught short, SS Redhawk, 4" .44 mag. with 300gr jhp's. Sometimes I'll throw a shot load or two in there. I usually have a CC LCR, .38 +P on me or a 1911 somewhere, like I said, don't like to caught short! Coogs.

Depending where we are, I usually carry my 41 mag Redhawk loaded with 265 hardcast along with a can of bear spray.

Unless I am carrying my MKII bull barrel .22, it would be a Mod 19, a Mod 57 or my Commander. The SS flat top convertible .45 is gaining favor, though.
