I am going to sell my Ruger Bisley 45 colt. No Bisley Grip frame. It is in Very Good to Excellent Condition. What should I ask for it?

Thanks, John

What is the deal with the grip frame? Do you have it? I'm thinking it would be worth more as it came from Ruger.

TOugh without the original configuration. I'd start at a shooter price. It looks like a solid $400+ shooter if it has no surprises, no visible damage or wear.

Is it stamped Bisley on the frame? If so. someone robbed the Bisley grip and trigger. If not, someone swapped out the fluted cyl for the Bisley cylinder and installed a Bisley hammer.

You might have to take what you can get for it.

It's the way I prefer a stainless Big Bore! 335 gr. gas checked LBT style cast slugs. Slicked up lockwork. Welded up hammer with a "half cock" notch cut in with a small file. XR3-RED design grip frame or Super Blackhawk style, tall front sight. Here's one I have........

Thanks for all the interesting posts.
The gun sold this morning in the classifieds.

A lot of people ignored the OP when he said he liked the plow handle better and swapped it. Is that the truth? I don't know. But its a little odd people are trying to figure out what happened to the Bisley GF.

I sold the Bisley grip frame. I do not like how they feel. Not for me. I really don't appriciate your insinuations of my honesty. Really there are people who do not like the bisley grip frame. I sold it to a guy who feels the same way.
Some of you try to read more into something than what is there.

John- congrats on selling the gun, looks to be a nice revolver, even w/out the Bisley grip frame and trigger. Go with what you like, that's the nice thing about being an American, you can do what ever the heck you want to... I've Frankensteined every single SA revolver I own to one degree or another... I buy a base gun, then turn it into what I like... I don't own a stock gun, of any kind... Different strokes for different folks... you go!

Thanks dlredfoxx and GasGuzzler.
I have stock guns but I have been "improving" them since I was old enough to shoot!

.....mopars rock...................

I purchased a .44 magnum cal. stainless steel Bisley with a 6" or 6-1/2" or whatever length they are..... barrel. The gun was "a good one, i.e. it was easy to shoot nice "little" groups at 25 yards". The recoil was horrible and by the time I'd fired 5 shots I'd had enough! My loads were NOT "fire breathing case splitters, either". It didn't take me long to understand my hands and the Bisley grip frame combination were NOT for me. So, I backed up a bit and dug into my parts bin.....

Voila! The "Hunter" grip frame did the trick! Of course, grip frames can "make or break" how a shooter " feels" about shooting a particular revolver. I dunno much about those long "smoke poles"........ :D
