What A Shame

Hey Guys,
I just saw some of the destruction that took place in Freeport Bahamas from Hurricane Durian. I have been thru a few hurricanes and I can not imagine sustained winds of 185 with gust to 200 then staying in place for 2 days. UNBELIEVABLE.

I spent 2 months working on a project for BORCO Oil in Freeport in 1998. What a wonderful time that was. The Wifie was able to be with me since it was in the summer and she didn't have to teach 3 grade. We stayed in a 5 star hotel and had a great time Snorkeling, Boating, and best of all fishing for Bone Fish and all this was done with the locals that worked at the hotel. It was not the typical tourist rip-off. We were treated like one of them.
Bottom line the locals we hung out with are wonderful folks. I know from looking at the news that they have probably lost everything that they had along with their home.
Luckily for the East Coast folks it looks like this storm is going to miss a lot of the Inland East Coast

I've seen a couple grainy photos of the airport terminal.. You couldn't do any more damage with explosives. Incredible level of destruction. The toll will be horrible when the news starts trickling out.

The Bahamas look a lot like Puerto Rico did after hurricane Maria last year.

No drinking water, no electricity, not many houses, and blocked roads.

I've been to the Bahamas a few times,, but not Grand Bahama. Looking at the pics,, all I can say is WOW!!!!!!!!

M wife and I lived in the Bahamas for a year teaching at a boarding school. We fell in love with the children and the people. I know how little many of these people have and to lose all that they own is heartbreaking.

Hi,

I saw one satellite photo with the actual outline of Grand Bahama superimposed. It looked like well over half the total land mass of the island is under water. Prayers go out for all affected...
