wet molding soft leather?

My wife recently found a great deal and bought me two Desantis Dual carry holsters, one for iwb and one for owb. However they have a problem, when the thumb break is snapped, it kicks the safety off on my G3c. I removed the thumb break on the one that I will use for iwb but need it for the other for owb unless it was molded. I thought I might wet mold it to the gun using a vaccume sealer, then I would not need the thumb break on the owb either. However it is soft leather and I have never tried this using soft leather. Has anyone molded their gun in a soft leather holster? Thanks for any help.

I contacted them and some safeties can get knocked off according to where they are located or the size of the lever. I even checked YouTube and found this problem on several thumb break holsters.

If the leather is sealed or oiled, wet molding probably won't do much good. Usually only works well with untreated vegetable tanned leather, and then before dyeing and sealing.

A lot of leather "dressings" will soften the leather and let it stretch a little bit.

You have to be careful with getting your holsters too soft. You could lose your retention value if you do.

If you really want to mold and stiffen it melt wax into the leather. Use heat to saturate the leather with wax. It will harden right up.

^^This would likely get better results than 'wet molding' which isn't very effective with 'soft' leather.

What Vaguru said is true. I have made many of my own holsters and have noticed once they are sealed, dyed and shaped that cannot be re-done by wet molding
