My dad's Marlin 39A is back in the fold. For some reason, he sold it to a friend just a few years ago, thinking my brother and I both had all kinds of guns, we wouldn't want it. My brother bought it back, for $650. This one was purchased new in the mid - '50s, has a period correct 4X Weaver scope. Near perfect condition, other than the small dent I put in the stock back when I was about 12 YO. I remember Dad telling me he bought it new for $50 without telling Mom he was going to spend that much money. Apparently she was pretty upset at the time. Both younger brother and I learned how to shoot with it. Many striped gophers later, it spent the last 30 years in Dad's gun rack. Dad died three years ago and brother ended up negotiating price with the buyer, who sort of knew what he had but also felt a little sorry for us.
Now it is mine until brother and I get together (he lives in KC metro). What an emotional trip. No pics at this time.
