I have a weekend project, a little cleaning and loading for a friend. His grandfather got this rifle as a kid, Marlin 1894 built in 1901. I have a little Gun Envy going here. At least I will get to shoot it when I'm done. :mrgreen: :mrgreen: :mrgreen:

Very nice old gun! I've always felt that Marlin made a better lever action than the Winchester. JMO!

NICE!! I have two .32-20 leverguns and shoot 8-9 gr. 2400 under Lyman`s 115 gr.
311008 bullet for some fun and accurate shooting. Have fun!!

Loading those 38-40's ought to be fun. I see the bullets are sized to .401". A real step back in time.

I am not sure they are better and I think the Winchester handles better, but I like the Marlin just fine.

That is a nice old gun and I am like you, I would shoot that baby a little before it went back.

I agree with you , marlin did make a better lever gun. but john wayne never killed any bad guys with a marlin, thats why the Winchester is more popular lol
