If I was a collector, I'd think it was too high.

But I'm not a collector, so I think it's a nice old Ruger .22, (showing wear) and a nice old cardboard box...

...And I think it's ridiculously high!

As an Amazon Associate we earn from qualifying purchases. Product prices and availability are accurate as of the date/time indicated and are subject to change.
It looks like an authentic package, with the correct box (White label covering an RSS5 or SC5 label), very clean oil paper and what looks like the paperwork underneath. Hard to tell from the photo, but the gun looks like there might be some bluing loss.

If the set is 98+ with all the goodies, RENE (Collector) pricing adds up to about 745. You'd have to decide if the difference is worth it to you. For what it's worth, the 4 5/8" bbl is the most scarce of the Single Six's I believe.

The condition of the gun is the problem,JMHO :) hard to find with the box and a very desirable model RSS4 convertable 8) to high for me. The ERH looks good :!: to bad the rest of the gun does not look like the housing :(

I realize that it's got a desirable barrel length and that have both cylinders adds a premium over the price of a non-convertable. Still though, $800 sounds perty-high for an XR3-RED Single-Six in the condition that that one looks to be in.....box or not.
Interesting ERH though. One doesn't see a lot of purple aluminum parts. Leastways, they aint as common a purple steel parts.

On the other hand, it aint my money you are spending so it realy don't matter what I think. If you like the "package" $800-worth, go for it. After all, it might be a while before you see another like it.

I am a collector, but I'm not a "typical" collector in that I don't care much about boxes and I shoot everything I own, so a "rare variant" has little interest to me if it's going to cost double what a "common" variant is worth.

I never got the high prices for Single Sixes when you can go to Gander Mt. right now and get a new one for $450-500 and used but not abused ones from the 70's and 80's are all over GunBroker.

My reasons for asking about this gun were simply to see if I was missing Something. I knew it was a scarce model, but did not want to pay to much if that was all it was. My thought was $450-500.

I thank you all for your input, but since the seller seems firm on his price , I will let this one go.

The package is nice - but not THAT nice. I picked up an UNFIRED 4-5/8 Single Six w/mag cylinder and all paperwork (including 1967 receipt) but no box last fall for under $400
