There's a completely different need in firearms. A target pistol or rifle is going to be different than a carry pistol or hunting rifle. There are modifications that do improve the use and accuracy of different guns for a specific purpose. Most manufacturers are selling guns that are more or less for general purpose use, also they market them at the lowest prices they can make a profit from. If you want any firearm to perform to its very best it probably could use some small improvements over the stock item.
