Here's where you can get a Blue Steel grip frame that will fit your New Model Blackhawk; pre-lock. I held off posting because I had one on order. It arrived yesterday and I installed it on my 4-5/8" Ruger New Model Blackhawk .45 Cal. The ears are a little high and I'm having them ground down to fit. Otherwise the fit is great. You will also want to order a Trigger Spring Retaining Pin and a Grip Panel Dowel, if you don't already have them. Likewise the Trigger Spring Pivot Pin. They each cost $4.15. I took the ones I'm using off of an unused alloy grip frame.

Grip Frame, Blue Steel (Will Fit New Model Super Blackhawk w/ Rnd Trigger Guard)
Product No. 721590A
$114.50

Thanks Hugh - really helpful. Does the fitting you need to do affect the blue in any way? or just off the top edge?

Funny being looking for this and Numerich is right in my backyard>

On mine it did. My New Model Blackhawks were manufactured in 1979. The ears of the grip frame that are ground down and polished will need to be blued. I understand though, from Hondo, that about five years ago the mating surface on the cylinder frame was enlarged, so if yours is newer then you may not have to fit the ears. I'm rather new to single actions and am learning as I go.

By the way, welcome to the Ruger Forum.

I'm new to SAs also. This N BHK is one month old w/internal lock, a convert. 357 + 9mm. I would have left it only the painted finish on the alum. frame is horrible, takes away from the whole appearance of the gun. Plus a little xtra "back" weight won't hurt. I don't need the lock, so I can get the parts needed to use the frame.
Thanks again for the info.
This is the best forum I've ever read.
