Ok, so who makes a serious XXL insect swatter ? Something longer, stouter, and wasp worthy ? Something marketed to the horsey, barn crowd ? The wife keeps buying these wimpy toy-like things that just annoy most winged varmints. I want a WEAPON ! H E L P !

I believe I got one like you want at Walmart. It was way too heavy duty for indoor fly's and such. This spring I had hundreds of large beetles smacking into my front door at night. One whack was all it took :) It's not longer, but it is stout enough to get the job done. You might also call your local Ace Hardware and ask if they have what you're looking for.

Well, the A-Salt rifle looks like fun and we had one of the electric ones. Some kid took off with it at camp. Gunny ? Thanks, put that site to favorites to look at tommorrow. Further research to do. Thanks folks.

For many years we had a very good one with the screen wire flapper. After many years of use we wore a hole in the screen wire.

I couldn't find any fly swatter repairmen in the Yellow Pages.

That, and the OP, are why I built one. It looks much like the one in the link.

B-52 season isn't here yet (Horse flies),... but I can tell you that they don't make a fly swatter that is effective for them. Our horses will actually come running to us when the horse fly is trying to land on their back. You have to whack the horse fly REAL hard (I use my hand) and that only stuns them. When they fall to the ground..... you have to MASH them with a heel. Horse flies around here are as big as your thumb...all the way to the second knuckle.

How about an Amish leather flyswatter for $6?

www.lehmans.com

Search for the word fly and it's the first on the list.

I love my electric tennis racquet insect killer. There is a Youtube video showing you how to remove a resistor in them which increases the killing power.

Glad to see Lehmans is still going strong.

Yes Lehmans is still going strong. Store is not far from the house, but I have not been there for several years. There is a local leather shop that also makes them but with a stout wooden handle. If you can't kill it with that you might want to get out your Ruger.

Just for fun one of our forum members loads up some rice and salt in some of his handloads to shoot wasp nests. Maybe he will chime in and give you his recipe.

Yep! I'm getting old. Couldn't find the "Search" feature.

Salt in a gun barrel, now that's the ticket!

We used to make them out of 9 gauge wire and old inner tubes. They swung like a ball bat. Granny would sprinkle a little sugar on the porch floor and I'd sit for hours smashing flies.

I should'a thought of Lehmans. Been there and have some of their products here. Love the hoe(garden) I got there. Good steel, takes a serious edge. Also a lantern, some kitchern stuff for the wife,etc..
