My father bought this gun new in 1950. It is missing the red medallion, and I am looking for one. If you have one, or know where to locate one, I would appreciate the info.

I have contacted Ruger, and they send me a couple of medallions, but they are the wrong medallions for the gun. Photos of the medallion you have are mandatory.

I think a 1950 pistol could have one-piece or two-piece Red Eagles. I'm not sure if it is possible to know for certain which ones it had originally. Someone else will know better than me.

Here is a photo of what the grip looks like now, and where the missing medallion should be, and what is there now.

appears to be one of the two piece medallions by the way it came apart and how 'shallow' the 1/2" diameter recess is...your best bet would be to find another left panel, even one that may be black eagle and at least repaint the medallion for the time being...save your ORIGINAL left panel, do not try and repair it,but hang onto it OR try and buy another set of red eagle grips but that would be pretty costly. We have redone a few panels for folks on the Forum,at least to help and make it "look" right, till you can locate another 'correct" one............

Yours would be the one on the right. The one on the left is the type
Radical had mentioned.

The 1950 medallion was only used from 1949 to 1951 when Sturm died, and it was changed to black, so the medallion I'm looking for was only used for a couple of years. Also, it was only on the left grip. The right grip has no medallion. A little trivia for those reading this that don't know.

That looks like the right medallion. I thought finding a medallion would be the hard part, and installing it would be easy. Apparently not. Are you selling that grip pictured on the right?

Gary,
Sorry I don't have any grips for sale. Just put the pics up to try and help you get the right set.
Good luck in your search.
Terry

Thank you. They are much better photos than what I've previously managed to find. I saved them for reference. :)
