Walther 8x57js

This is an old Walther B rifle with detachable claw mounts from the factory. I just had the stock done by a gunsmith and came out very nice. Would like to try it on a Wildebeest some time using 200g ammo.

Nice rifle. I have a pair of them, a 7x57 on the left and an 8x57 on the right. You do not see many of them around. I picked mine up while living in Canada about 5 months apart from one another, felt darn lucky. The 7x57 is a tack driver and has been given to my 13 year old son. We were just out shooting it this past Sunday. I was drilled an tapped when I bought it so I had the bolt handle lowered and installed an FN left side swing safety. I have not yet fired the 8x57. It is in as new condition, not drilled/tapped. I have searched for info on them with little luck. Do you know when they were made?

Very nice rifles. I love Walther bolt guns . Along with Mauser sporters I think there the most buatuful hunting rifles made .

I spoke with a guy a while ago that's got the same rifle in 8x57, according to him they were made in the mid 50's. I will contact the guy and ask him about his serial number. Maybe the serial numbers can give us valuable information.
