I have a Ruger Standard from the early sixties. It hasn't been shot much for its age. I have taken up shooting it quite a bit lately, and it works pretty well. However I am having occasional stovepipes. I have tried careful cleaning and different ammo, but while there is some improvement. it is still a problem. I have heard quite a bit about the VQ Exact Edge extractor, and how it helps this problem. However, when I read about this product, it always says it is for Mk II's and Mk III's, never mentioning the early Standards and Mark I's. I have two questions. First can the VQ extractor be used in my RST6, and second, is it worth trying to clean up the factory extractor instead of getting the VQ? I have read several places that some people have smoothed and sharpened the factory part and gotten good results. I have also checked the schematics at Numrich's and I see that they have the Mark I and Mark II extractors listed with the same part number, which makes me think they are the same, and therefore the VQ would work for me. Any information would be appreciated. Thanks
