Vertical shoulder holster recommendations for a Ruger 4 5/8” .Blackhawk

Hey Y’all,

As the title says,looking for a good,well made vertical type rig for conceal carry when walking trails.

Prefer cordura/nylon for rain and moisture barrier specs but definitely consider leather as well.

Years ago I tried an Uncle Mike's nylon model for N frame Smiths. It worked, but it was bulky and caused damage to my shirt and was also "hot".

The only nylon holster I have left is an original, pre military acceptance UM 84. I did by all of the attachments so it will function and a shoulder holster. Not designed for concealment.

I have and use an Uncle Mike’s for a Ruger Redhawk. It is just difficult to get on and off. It is comfortable. Also I had a “Chesty Puller” set up for a Super Blackhawk from Simply Rugged. Diamond has a nice set up too. Good luck.

For just 'walking around', I'd concur with the Uncle Mike's holster for a 4 5/8" Bhawk. By no means a quick draw but sturdy and secure. It will flop around unless somehow connected to your belt at the muzzle end.

It's not nylon but, a Bianchi X15 is a very comfortable holster to wear.
They come in all sizes.

This El Paso tanker holster fits snugly against the body and is comfortable to wear. Guess it wouldn't be considered concealed because of the front strap crossing your chest. But if you wore a jacket it might work.

That gets my vote too, and I've about tried them all at one time or another.

I'll mention Diamond D Denali nylon chest rig, I recently got one for my 629. I had preciously acquired their Guides Choice leather version which came with 4" 357 holster for my 686 but wanted one for the .44. While it doesn't hang the .44 completely vertical it might work for you. The end of the vid shows close to vertical wear

I've owned two different shoulder holsters.

The first one was the Galco vertical shoulder holster and the second was the Craft roto shoulder holster. Of them I prefer the Craft one. The roto part works as advertised, the leather is thicker, and they have the option of it being offset with an ammo/speed loader carrier or flat, without one.
