value of a NM stainless 9mm cyl.?

Hi Guys, i know we with stainless .357 blackhawks and want to shoot 9mm have to find a blued cylinder,a stainless cylinder is as rare as hens teeth! so my Question is to everyone; How much would you pay for a stainless 9mm cylinder? ___bedrockfred
 
A couple years ago ruger told me they'd make a new one for me for $150, fitted for my gun. Some others have said they got a different response from them. That may give you a place to start.
 
iam not really looking to buy one, just wonder what people would pay if one was for sale? i have paid 50.00 to 100.00 for blued 9mm and as much as 155.00 for a blued .45acp cylinder. i think i might go 200.00 to 250.00 for a stainless 9mm? i tryed to do a pole question, no luck. so lets hear what street value might be!

Wow, Yeah that isnt many then. Are these numbers referring to the stainless convertibles made, or just the 9mm cylinder separately for the New Models?
 
those numbers are convertibles made. i dont think ruger will make any STAINLESS 9MM cylinders to sell as parts. but again, what do i know?____bedrockfred____ ps; if someones bought one from Ruger, i would like to hear about it please.
 
Again, it was a year or two ago - (and while this same discussion was going on here) that I called Ruger about a stainless .45ACP cylinder for my .45Colt Blackhawk. They're answer to me was they will make any cylinder for a gun that was originally offered that as an option. If they made a stainless 9mm/357 convertible, then they would make a stainless cylinder fitted to your gun if you sent it to them with that request. I'm no expert, but that's what they told me - and I might get a different answer if I talked to a different person. At that time, I found that it would be just about the same cost to do that and have one fitted for my gun than buying a used one and taking a chance it would work, or having to get a smith to make it work. Maybe it would make a difference that they made so few of them originally? I guess a phone call to them would actually answer the question
 
gotta remember, the "rare" ( or valuable ones) were the FEW that were made back in the 70's the new ones are a different lot & breed, and the price of NEW cylinders is somewhere around $107 last we checked....
also got to keep in mind that Ruger does NOT always have them "in stock" and remake them from time to time, so its a matter of "timing" also..................last one we sent in for a freind, they held onto the gun until the time they made some MORE cylinders..............otehr times we've been told, NO< threyare NOTavailable, again, all depends on who and when you talk with them...go figure
 
let me try it this way, does any one here have a ruger, new model blackhawk stainless steel .357mag? ruger made very few convertible 357/9mm in stainless.. so if you have a SINGLE cylinder 357 and wanted to buy a Stainless 9mm cylinder so you can shoot 9mm ammo, How much would you PAY to get one??

Good point...

Yet some people are pretty industrious and handy. The price is low and someone can make a purse out of a sow's ear right? :lol:
 
I've got a KBN34 with a 9mm cylinder numbered to the gun that i am going to sell. It was sent to Ruger by the previous owner to be fitted with a 9mm cylinder. Pretty much a safe queen with very little wear.
 
copierfixer - do you have any idea how long ago that cylinder was made by the factory?
