I don't normally ask this, but curiousty bit me.

A Ruger MKI, looks hardly fired, with 3 mags, two of which have the Ruger boxes, one of which looks unfired. The mags have the chrome-looking bottoms. I believe it's an early 80s gun. No box or papers for the gun.

Seller is asking $250.

Thanks

Which barrel configuration is it? The short target barrel (5-1/4 inch, I believe) was pretty rare. The 6-7/8 inch tapered target barrel was the most common.

In any case, $250 is a pretty darn good price for a clean Mark I.

Now, the question..... is it really a Mark I, or is it a first generation Standard Auto?

Hmm...it looks to measure 4 3/4", from thr front of the breech. And the barrel tapers.

Serial number dates it to 1982ish.

if its the shorter ,tapered barrel and has fixed sights, it is the standard auto, and if "82 ish" should be in the 17 prefix range, good price really, with 3 mags as they came with just ONE and the others run in the $25 range each......1982 is about the 'cutoff' of going from the MK I /RST, to the MK II series, and starting the stainless steel versions........

Yes, 17 prefix.

Any of the old Standards are worth at least $250 if in decent shape. The extra mags are a bonus. They are good shooters, my mid '60s tapered barrel 6" standard shoots just as well as my MkII 6" bull barreled Target Model.

Thanks. Each of the mags has the Ruger red/white box with it. Not sure whether to store those, or just sell them off. I often find myself in the fine line of collector/gatherer-shooter...
