Useless Junk Picture Thread

There was a fascinating thread in the lounge not too long ago about the useless junk we collect and some of the stuff described was very unusual and would, I thought, make a good picture thread. Some of the ground rules. One or two pictures of stuff that you have that is not useful at all but that you can't throw away for some reason. Simple. Use your imagination.
I'll start. This is a picture of some miss-matched oarlocks and a padlock. These belonged to my dad and are easily 75+ years old.

Okay, let's see what I can find on my PB album...

Here's a pair of junk '68-'69 GTO models I picked up somewhere. I took the best parts of both and restored the '68 (the orange one--it came out pretty nice). There is JUST enough stuff left to do the '69, but it will take a lot of work. The thing is, this kit is still being made and I could just go over to AC Moore with a coupon and buy a brand new one for less than $10--cheap when compared to the hours of work it will take to repair the junker. Still, I find I'm unable to just throw it out.... :?

the junker was probably molded here, the new ones....china. there is an excuse for ya.
i used to do alot of model building, i stopped a few years ago,too many hobbies.i still love
to look,and i love the box art.show some pics when it is done. 8) )

I like your thinking about the "Made in the USA" thing. :wink: But the roof's caved in on it, always a tricky fix, and I have no glass for it. Pretty sure the windshield, maybe the backlite too, from a spare '70 Chevelle will fit.

If it were a RARE kit, I'd happily restore it. I've worked with worse. Just seems a waste of effort to put hours and hours of work into something that's worth so little.... :?

I wanted to see someone with talent make a diorama utilizing old car kit bodies and such to build a old salvage yard scene, miniature tumbleweeds and rattlesnakes, old Mopar ground down to the dirt, couple 50's Buicks and a Caddy rusting away, scene would have some guy on his back in the dirt under one of them trying to get a much needed part. I thought that would make a nice piece of man cave art
I saw a drive in movie model car displayer that had the animated food "Lets all go to the snack bar" commercial on the big screen, people making out and cooking burgers, it was a very cool display

They're stamped DUMMY and seem to have been done that way at the factory. I suspect they're made out of parts that didn't pass inspection. For example, the M29 actually has a .41 cylinder. They were used for holster-making forms.

Ruger also makes dummy guns. This is a New Vaquero I got from them. It's been completely welded up to be non firing so it's not even classified as a gun any more. They sent it to me in a regular old cardboard box by UPS. At least Ruger doesn't stamp "DUMMY" on them.

nice ride. i can't believe pontiac is gone,you have to put a little ruger in the glove compartment.
