Well I couldn't stand it so after they totaled my 2004 Road King Classic from my earlier crunch up I found a 2003 Road King Anniversary model. 2800 original miles and stored inside!!!!!!!! A retiree had bought it new and then just rode a few miles a month. It is Gunmetal blue. I put an additional $1000 in it for new tires and a 10,000 mile service at the Harley dealership. Changed all the fluids. Then put another unspecified amount(disclosure could be used against me at future court proceedings)in chrome. Still a little shaky right now but you know what they say about getting thrown off a horse!

Hi,

Take it slow and easy, but take it! Hope everything heals up well and you're soon back to where you were before the wreck.

Well I'm guilty of getting the "uniform" half right. I always wear long jeans and "real" riding boots. The boots really saved me to during my crash. The toes of both boots were all scuffed and gouged up. Had I been wearing tennis shoes I likely would have broken both feet or least toes on both feet. No tennis shoes for me. I've seen riders wearing flip flops on motorcycles and I just cringe. Where I could improve is my upper body. I'm guilty of wearing tee shirts and short sleeve shirts instead of summer jacket. Gloves....sometimes. Is this the uniform you're referring to Bull Barrel?

That's a beautiful 100th Anniversary model! Absolutely beautiful!

I missed your wreck thread... Glad you're alright and still able to ride. As a 47 year veteran of two wheeled 'entertainment', I can say that it's never any fun crashing... But life ain't worth living if there isn't something worth losing it all for. Analyze what went wrong, find ways to mitigate it, and just get on with it!

At least, that's how I've always viewed it... YMMV... ;)

Here you go, RH:

No need to talk about my motorcycle accidents. Oct. 15, '71 I was involved in a fairly serious vehicle accident where I was ejected. I was spooked when I started driving again after my release from the hospital. You'll get over it and be just fine.

Your "new" RK looks great! :D

Nope.
You have to wear "engineer" boots, chaps, a black HD dealer T shirt from a dealer you visited in the cage, fingerless gloves, a primary chain belt, a trucker wallet with chain, a do rag with skeletons on it and if wearing a helmet it must be a Chinese puddin pot that isn't DoT or Snell approved.
My dentist bought a HD a few years back and I asked the same question. He didn't understand until he went to a H.O.G. meeting.
You also need the Biker Boyz (tm) speedo adaptor, too.

Nice Road Sofa.

Happy to hear that you survived with no serious injuries.... it could easily have been a different story. The scoot can be repaired or replaced.... your body, well, not so much.

I've been riding since 1962, and have well over 500,000 miles on two wheels; I have 2 "uniforms" -

Cooler weather... Tourmaster jacket & pants..... armor in the shoulders, elbows, knees and hips, and a padded back protecter. Held gauntlet-style gloves.

Warmer weather... Firstgear mesh jacket & pants.... same armour. AGV Sport mesh short gloves (armored knuckles).

All the time... HJC full-face helmet & SIDI Boots.

Go down hard without this stuff one time, and you'll never ride without it again. I've seen a Harley rider (wearing jeans and a t-shirt with the sleeves torn off) low side at about 40 mph. He loooked like a pepperoni pizza when he stopped sliding.

#1- I'm very happy you weren't seriously injured, partner. That could have gone SO much worse!
#2- Sorry 'bout your old scoot.
#3- Love the new machine! (But it needs a blower...)
#4- Enjoy the ride, brother. I only have about ten thousand miles of two-wheeling on blacktop under my belt, but I know it is genuinely good for my soul!

Beautiful!!!!

Speaking of recovery.....it was a straight up 50 years ago just a few weeks ago, I had a serious crash that left me in traction for going on 4 months, and a full length body cast much of the next year.

Not all that long after getting out of hospital I conjured up a way to ride my buddy's bike a couple miles (with cast) down to my 'girlfriend's house......she wasn't there...out with some hustler boy....

It was a lot longer (and more hazardous) ride back to his place....ok, 1/2 block to main steet....couple miles through a couple lights, 1 block turn to Jeannies's house....WTF!!!! but it seemed a billion miles back...

The fever continued and I rode for the next 45 years despite a permanent physical impairment.

"Rehab is largely in the mind, and pain is merely weakness leaving the body"....so they said.

Cheers on a NICE looking ride.

I've got a primo custom set of Langlitz leathers (now Classic in themselves) I'm going to have to find a new home.

:D Perfect and spot on! All about the portrayed image after all. Remember the more skulls the more impressive and masculine you become. Oh and the taller the bars, the bigger bad-rase you become as well. C'mon, stretch those arms up. LoL

Was years ago but on the dirt bike I got the front end death wobble in some soft sand and end-over-ended it. getting back on that was as natural as if nothing ever happened. same with barrel rolling a snowmobile. Now that more sense and wisdom is under the helmet, it's not as such. No go-downs on the Bonneville but a couple VERY near misses with idiots not paying attention were enough to make the nerves act up. There's days I just won't ride because of the day and knowing the idiots are more plentiful.
Always wear the gear - NOTHING "cool or tough" about road rash (or worse).

Two kinds of bike riders those that have been down and those that are going down,
Been down several times, also drove off-road bike into a barb wire fence, would have done the same thing on a horse, if the horse hadn't been smarter than me.
