Well, I have to admit I just spent the last half hour on google looking up words. A lot of them I thought I knew, like bifurcated, referring, to me, as a spilt in a river, but now I know it is more than just that.

That's from a minority group who seemingly can't pronounce "ask". I always spell it axe.
Anyhow, my word for this whole thread is obfuscation.

Circa 1978 I responded to a large apartment complex to report of a naked bleeding man running around the complex. I had about a year on a medium sized pd.
Upon arrival, I contacted the subject, bleeding from multiple glass lacerations, and rendered aid, asking where he came from. “Up there.” he said as he pointed to second story broken window.
Husband came home and the subject learned what defenestration was and how it was applied.
True story.

What's funny is page one has two posts chock full of misspelled words. One was for humor and the other seems to be accidental.

FUBAR and BOHICA I knew from the military back in the late 70’s. I occasionally still hear it today. The other one from back in the day is KITDAFH (Kept in the dark and fed %@#$).

I used to show this as an introduction to computer controlled transmissions in a class I taught at Wyotech. At first, there was a lot of looks of confusion and then they began to catch on. This same guy did serious training films for Ford, GM and Chrysler. I doubt he ever turned a wrench much but he sure had a convincing way about him.
