I bought a copy of this book maybe 50 years ago. I lent it out and never got it back!
I wanted to read it again so I requested the local library do a interlibrary loan. No copy available. I checked Amazon! They had it $200. A buddy did an ebay search and got this copy for $65.
Every couple of pages someone is dieing or getting shot. Chapter 5 is Charles Askins 6 years as a border patrol man. A far cry from our current border. A worthy read!

One of my best friends in KC is his nephew, his mom was Col Askin's sister. My buddy said he was a grumpy old know it all and a real drag at family events especially if he could not be the center of attention. My friend inherited an 8mm Mauser sporter and a 28ga shotgun from him.

I've met more than a few of those types in my lifetime. The newer generations call them "toxic"; and the smart ones steer away from them.
