Unfortunate accident

Yesterday morning, Grouch Attack mentioned there had been a 'man hunt' over night in an area about 5-6 miles from my place--no other details. Last night she revealed that the 'man hunt' had been in response to a 'wellness check' conducted by county Sheriff. Seems that a man from out of the area had purchased a small farm for recreational use and was checking his new property. The previous owner had cut some ATV trails over and through some pretty rough terrain and the new owner wrecked his ATV/UTV on one of these trails. He didn't survive. Short lived enjoyment of his rural acreage.
It's that time of year when hunters are out and about prepping for hunting season but BE CAREFUL.

Dang. My older of two sons had a friend die in a car accident this week.

Sometimes,, odd accidents happen in such a manner that we wonder "Why?"

Since I have no other information, I can only guess this person may not have had much experience with an off hwy vehicle and simply got in a bad spot. I do know the area and it has some really steep and rough terrain. Again, a most unfortunate accident.

I remember MANY years ago (the 70's IIRC in Mn.) people were running into barbed wire fences on their snow mobiles. It was ugly.

Years ago I lived on a road that was partially paved. Where the houses were it had blacktop with a fine stone finish coat. There was a transition from paved to stone about 1/4 mile from our house. I can remember at least twice where a 3 wheeler was crashed as they lost control on the loose stone. 1 kid died outright and the other kid was in the hospital for a week before he died.
Both were preventable if the drivers were paying attention instead of running at top speed....

Yeah, yoots un ATV/UTV’s don’t understand short wheelbase along with high speed and terrain. Out in the sticks yoots love to jump on the road where mom and dad can’t see them and letr’ rip. Snowmobiles and wire fences in winter. Speed kills.
I had 4 or 5 dirtbikes as a kid/young adult and never got more than a minor scratch or dent on bike or body. I didn’t race or pretend I was Evil Knievel. My dad instilled in me the necessity to be at work 5 or 6 days a week and able to use my entire body for it. Even when I took up skydiving I was conservative on my jumps, other than the fact of jumping out of a perfectly good running airplane. Three years of jumping 10 or more per weekend all summer and jumpable days in spring fall and winter and zero injuries.
