I've shot and have been thinking about getting an SR9 for a while now, but wasn't expecting to buy one so soon. I was planning on saving my pennies until I remembered the old Remington Model 12 .22 sitting under my bed. It was my grandpa's that I got from my uncle, but it has just been collecting dust. So, what am I supposed to do? Let it collect dust, then give it to my sons so they can let it collect dust? It has no sentimental value to me, so I figured I'd take it to a couple gun shops and see what they'd give me for it.
The first place said they'd give me $275 toward a $500 SR9. Um, no thanks. The next place said they'd trade me even-up for a $430 SR9. I couldn't pass it up!
So, I'm the proud new owner of an SR9! I still have to get my purchase permit before I bring it home, but I'm as excited as ever! I thought was going to have to wait until fall. I'm going to pick it up tomorrow or Monday and go shoot on Wednesday!!! Woo Hoo!!!
So, any pointers to a new handgun/SR9 owner would be welcome.
Thanks

Congrats on the SR9... but did you check the condition/price of that rifle before you traded it in? I'm not sure what condition it was in... but it might have been worth a good penny if you sold it outright....

That is one link.. there are others.....

Make sure you give the SR9 a good thorough cleaning before you take it to the range. Especially inside the striker channel. Use the least amount of gun oil needed to do the job.

+1 on the good cleaning. Then just shoot the heck out of it. When you're ready to start tricking it out check out EGalloway's website Galloway Precision. Lots of cool stuff.

I think you'll like the SR9. The more I shoot mine the more I like it. It's not at all fussy about ammo, shoots accurately with little recoil, and just looks good.

EEeek! To each their own I guess. Maybe I"m more sentimental. Nice that you got a gun you'll shoot though.

I really like my SR9c. I like it more and more all the time. Not bad for an off the cuff purchase. I had never heard of it and it was not on my list of guns I was looking at, at the time. Was going more for a small Taurus 9mm or XDsc9. I think there was another on my list too but don't recall it any longer.
