I recently located a Ruger Single Six "Ultra Light"?. It has what appears to be an aluminum frame, rubber grips, and a 4" or 4.5" barrel and about 90-95% condition. The current owner is asking $500.

Does anyone here have one? What might the value be? History? And finally, pictures?

Thanks for the help.

Well, it appears that you have possibily found a "Lightweight." A serial number would help. Condition is everything when it comes to pricing. It could easily be worth the $500 or not,, depending upon true serious condition grading. Can you take any pics of it?

Type I Natural Aluminum Colored Cylinder frame, aluminum cylinder, flat loading gate.

Type II Same, except a round loading gate. Very scarce.

Type III Black colored aluminum cylinder frame and black colored aluminum cylinder.

Type IV Same as Type III except the cylinder is blued steel.

There are also "Factory Seconds" which have the letter "S" following the serial number or on the lower "flat" of the cylinder frame, in front of the "trigger guard" screw.

The "S" guns can exhibit parts from several years of development, i.e. a "post '62' XR3-RED grip frame along side a flat loading gate.

Prices for these guns encompass a broad spectrum. Roughly $450 to multiple thousands. Toss in a $500 to $1,500+ box and you're all of a sudden in the "Big League".... :D

As usual, Just My Humble Opinion,
