Okay, this weekend I set up at my monthly gunshow. After I got set up, I wandered around the show searching for a few items I "needed". I found a couple of boxes of 444 Marlin ammunition and a set of Ruger rings for my #2 Ruger. The only thing I couldn't find was a set of grips for my 629 S&W. Later on, my friend dug around and found a set of grips. They will function fine, but dang they are ugly!

Coupled with the terrible laser engraving and the grips, this is one ugly gun IMO. You got something uglier? I know beauty is in the eye of the beholder, but geez! :D

I have a BIG 11" blade sheath knife made by Chippewa Cutlery that has those same multi color laminate handles in it .I'm just gonna reshape the handle a bit and rough the surface up good with 220 grit , stain it with Mim wax Ebony wood stain [5-6 coats sand it again with 320 stain again , sand with 400 wet sand stain again , buff with 0000 steel wool and then cover with semi Gloss clear polyurethane and it will look like nice lamented ebony wood grip handles.
Lou
Here's the knife now ,I'll post pics after I do the handle,

BTW, if the gun is really just too ugly that you can't stand it , I shouldn't do this , but I will take in stray S&W .N Frames that need a loving home, even if their ugly ,I have a soft spot for unwanted N Frames. LOL

You want ugly? Here's ugly. Barf bag optional but recommended:

Yes I agree very ugly grips the style is uglier than the color it don't look right on that gun to me, so what guns shows are you doing WAC shows other ones?

Wow! About the same size as an enema bag....
Well yes, but not exactly. Allow me to explain... Give me, and Lou, a couple of ex-lax and you could fit us both in a matchbox with a really tacitc-cool mini gun. Questions?

Centralia, Lewis County Fairgrounds. Once a month. Don't do WAC, they are too restrictive.

Yeah I've grown tired of WAC shows, I know they raised their table rates way up on dealers, and last year when I mailed in my membership dues they sent my check back with a note saying they raised the dues and wanted $5 more dollars, I was never notified they raised the dues and only went to 2 shows that year so I decided that's to much I just tore my check up and haven't gone back since.

Your wink gives you away.
Those Dymondwood grips are a C-note these days, made exclusively for S&W when they stopped making square-butt frames. I love 'em. They have a fit that is near-perfect for most hands. The engraving is strictly personal, but I find fin most complaints about engraving come from folks who never could afford a cut-engraved handgun in the first place... ;)

Not sure if I should admit it or not, but I've always wanted one of the Smith and Wesson Performance guns like the one pictured. Something about them intrigues me. I don't have anything similar...perhaps there's a reason why...

The scroll work on the cylinder would have been enough...

I am a traditional wood guy but that is not ugly. Laminate can provide outstanding grain patterns, as seen in OP. Popular has green tint.
Hell. I would be proud to run any cat house in New Orleans with that bad boy.
Really I think it is a very fine looking pistol, congrats!
I bet Al Sharpton would love that set of grips, ain't a speck of white anywhere but has all the other colors. Now I ani't meaning theys folk that are green, cept those VC I seen pictures of.
The bag holster for the black gun provided me with 20 minutes of serious belly laughter!
The rig with the speed loaders provoked me to ask, "do you lean toward bow/starboard when your a wearing it? Do you have suspenders holding that up? Looks a might heavy to me.... but very functional and mean.
Firearms are like women, they don't have to be the best looking one around, just as long as it pleases you..... and it works. Besides we all know the finest looking firearms should not be used as shooters and the prettiest girl ain't worth having as wives, just for looking at.
