Brought my S&W 22-a out to the range with a NEW unopened box of Federal AutoMatch 22 LR.
gun would not cycle, shot one, hand eject one, shoot one, you know. Thought the gun had finally had a problem, great gun up till now. Took the wife's SR22, EXACTLY the same thing happened. Ha HA!! we got bad ammo!!!, took out another new box of Federal Champion 22's from 5 yrs ago, yep you guessed it, not a FTF on either gun the rest of the day. Just shows you the old age is a good thing!
Called Federal in Anoka MN, lady said no one to talk to in Quality Control, NO LIE THERE, so I sent a fax with all the info, this was third week in May, NO ANSWER. Just sent another one today. How much you want to bet, NO answer again. I told them the least they could do is buy me a 22 Ruger, revolver to shoot the defective rounds in. BEWARE of the new Federals, Lot #1FG154, got 4 boxes that I am using for door stops now.

WELL I GOT A CALL BACK, Monica the quality control girl. Well!!!! they usually don't hear about too many problems in their 22 cal ammo. SAYS WHO? They are sorry for the problems that I had. ME TOO! They are trying to figure it out and then she asked me for all the SAME INFO that I already gave her in the letter. They PROBABLY will send a shipping label to me so I can send it back for their inspection and if what I am saying is ACCURATE, THEN they will send me some new stuff, WRONG!!! I don't want anymore of the white and black box stuff, I want their better blue box stuff or my money back, OH WOW SHE SAID, WE WILL SEE. So that is where it is now

Well she called back again with an offer of $25.00 per box, UNOPENED, 3 box's or $75.00, NO OTHER type OR SUBSTITUTE AMMO. After her checking, my problem is that I am trying to use them in a SMITH & WESSON firearm, they are known to be finicky with this type of ammo, MY FAULT, I APPOLIGIZED AND SAID NOWHERE DID I SEE THAT WARNING ON THE BOX, so they are sending me a check for $75.00 & a shipping label to send it back to them. NO replacement shells, no extra comp $, no taking responsibility for the rotten ammo & NO MORE OF THAT AMMO TO BE PURCHASED BY ME-----AMEN
TO FOLLOW UP,she is sending UPS to pick up the ammo and give me a check AND!!!! I could not get anymore ammo as a replacement because THEY ARE NOT SCHEDULED TO PRODUCE ANYMORE 22CAL AMMO FOR AT LEAST THE NEXT MONTH!!!!!!!!!!!! Kind of tells you why there is not anymore cheap priced 22 cal around anymore, PLANNED OBSOLESCENCE/PRICE FIXING
6/12/2016 Still no shipping label or a refund ck!!!!! 6-18, UPS picked up the old ammo, now we will see what happens. REMEMBER, NO S&W's according to Federal for their cheap 22 ammo

I would send a letter to them, stating you will be contacting the Better Business Bureau, OSHA, the Attorney General in your state & their state, the NSSF, your attorney, other manufacturers, and anybody else you can to see if you can get a response to your problems. Written letters, not emails, copied & sent to as many as you can will likely get somebody to take you seriously.
But, be polite, do not expect a gun for your troubles, but you should get a quality replacement for the ammo, at their expense.

THIS is also why GOD invented 22 revolvers. I always buy 22LR by the 5M case ands they ALL shoot in one gun or another.
And so it goes....

Whew! Lucky me. The Federals in my .22 stash are 8 years old (stocked up a while back).

Ya Wil I have a revolver but to use up 1400 rounds in a 6 shot revolver, heck I am 70 yrs old, I don't know who would run out 1st, me or the ammo
