Hi I just set up my Ruger 22/45 with a Tactial Solutions barrel, and a Volquartsen target sear. It helped with the pull weight but has quite a bit of pre travel. Any suggestions on getting rid of the pre travel.

donniekc,

As this is yer first post on the RF, WELCOME! :)

As own a MARK 2 22/45,curious yer model?

I got ZERO answers to yer question,Mine was pretty damn accurrate outta the box!

But sounds like yer turning yours into a total target monster! COOL!

Request both.....more details and PICS.

Thanks guys, yes it was pretty accurate out of the box, decent trigger, not drilled for rail, eyes dont see the sights as well as they used to, lol. A friend has a buckmark with a tactial solutions barrel, I loved the way it shoots but didnt like the way you had to take it apart to clean, decided to juice up my 22/45 instead. Love the light weight, it had a 5 1/2" stainless bull barrel, I went with the blue w/silver flutes 6" with a silver compensator, rail with red dot sight. Would love to be able to change grips, etc but not possible with mine. Thanks for the info on the triggers, guess I should have gotten the whole trigger kit, just read the info on the one part, didnt have the pretravel problem with the old parts. Dont have any pictures yet, I will try to get some taken and posted.

Hmmm, I might not have been on the same page with you in regards to pretravel/take up and wonder if "creep" is part of the equation.

"Pretravel/take up/slack", to me, is the movement of the trigger from it's starting position to the point you encounter sear pressure.
"Creep", on the other hand, would happen after that point; instead of the hammer releasing cleanly as you increase pressure on the trigger, you feel the mechanism sliding some before the hammer releases.

Most all stock triggers on the Ruger MARK series have some pretravel and the adjustable stop trigger will remedy that. "Creep" would probably need some smithing to fix or, perhaps, mating a Volquartsen hammer with their sear.

Regards,
Greg

BTW: Let me echo GhosT's welcome to the forums :D

Thanks for the help, I am going to have to break down and get an adjustable stop trigger.
