Since a stock Old Army nipple rounded, I just switched to Treso nipples. I neglected to really understand how small the flash hole in the Treso nipple is. I had a misfire on my second full cylinder because I neglected to clean the flash hole. And….none of my nipple picks will fit through the flash hole!

Is there a substitute out there that others have used or are using? I need to find something while I try to acquire a smaller nipple pick?

BTW I used an Easy Out (after a couple of hours of soaking in penetrating oil) to remove the stock Old Army stuck nipple. It worked great!

My pick fits and yea they are small, which helps keeps the caps from blowing off after firing. Try a needls/pin.

Good call Jim, a small safety pin works great! Thanks.

I have also found that a welders torch head file set does wonders for such small holes. (It's a small set of round files in a fold up cover that is used to clean the nozzles in welding and torch heads. Very tiny round files that will clean a lot of different small holes. NOT for serious filing work, just cleaning.)

I suspect the proper sized numbered drill bit might work, held between the fingers, but I have no idea what that size would be.

Contender... great tip! I picked up a set at my local Big R. They work perfectly and I am sure I will find other uses for them (like the nozzles on my waste oil furnaces!). $5.00 well spent!
