Tonight's supper

Bet I hav had 1000gals cornbread and whole milk through years. Buy I aint never acquired taste for buttermilk. But it makes fine bisquits!!

Icey cold buttermilk is fabulous. Don’t do it often as my cholesterol does back flips. Plus it’s sometimes hard to find.
One great thing about growing up around dairies is that I got to experience “fresh” dairy products. Nothing you buy in a store is fresh. Closest you can get is if the dairy has a small store on the property. Those are getting pretty rare these days.

Buttermilk for me is a pancake ingredient only, no way I'm drinking the stuff.
Bob, you need to add some kind dead animal ( protein ) into that meal. Even an old
guy's body can use it.

Be glad to see ya when you got the time.
Sittin at our table won't cost ya dime.

You know, maybe we should start up a "Recipes" section on the Forum. I'm sure there's lots of folks here who have to cook for themselves. I know I do periodically....
Then again, I cook for my wife and myself, and sometimes for the kids and their spouses when they come around.
I KNOW we have some good cooks on this Forum. Be fun to share.

Just a thought...

Wish you had a spare chair at your table. I'm still not use to cooking just for myself so tonight it was grilled cheese sandwich with Lipton diet green tea.
:(
I wish you could join me. My niece often invites me for supper. She, too, lives alone and tells me it is nice to have someone to talk to at the supper table. I'm no gourmet cook, but I'm pretty well fed!

Speaking of cornbread, a week ago, I made Mexican cornbread which includes diced green chiles, honey, cheese and a can of cream style corn. I had not made it in about 40 years. It came out as delicious as ever.
