To Use or not to Use?

Does one use primer sealant? If so how would one use it? :?:

Never have.

Last year I shot up some ammo I found that I loaded 20 or 25 years ago or more. It had lived all that time in an unheated garage and was exposed to temperatures from below 0* to over 100*F. I think some of it even got rained on a little. It all shot just fine.

If you really want to seal primers, I've heard that nail polish works well. Testor model enamel is now available in magic marker-like "paint pens" and I'd think something like that would be VERY quick, easy, and convenient to seal primers with. Dab, dab, done.

Interested in hearing what others have to say about this. :wink:

Purely out of habit I seal mine... have used nail polish for years for the task. My "she-who-must-be-obeyed" rather enjoys picking out the color for the "sealant"... allows her to get involved with my realoading as well (although she does have a .357, she hasn't fired it in a number of years, although I really would think twice about testing her ability to effectively use it.....)

I have sealed primers where the cartridges road in a gun belt - I tended to hunt in all weather.

However, for general use, it is a thorough waste of time and effort (if you have extra time, just cast more bullets :D ).

It leaves a minute amount. It has never been an issue.

Nope never have sealed the primers. Rifle or short gun. All have went bang.

Several years ago, I inadvertently ran half a dozen .44 mag reloads thru the washing machine (heavy cycle). They all shot just fine.
