Something unusual happened to my GP 100 at the range yesterday. I put about 20 .357 through my revolver when the trigger suddenly disengaged. It was swinging as if it were free. I engaged the hammer and everything when back into place. I finished my time at the range without incident. Since this is my preferred carry I practice regularly and clean it after each practice. This has never happened before. I fully disassembled and polished and oiled. It didn't seem especially grimmy, but I would hate for this to happen when I need it to perform. I would appreciate any thoughts or advice on this.

Perhaps the trigger reset spring is too light? Have you changed that? :shock:

Is that a new gun? I had this happen to a GP100 the first time I tried it, before I cleaned it and took it to the range. It was caused by a bit of metal jammed in the trigger plunger. It never happened again after I cleaned it.

Thanks for the feedback. The gun is not new. I've had it for years. I'll check the trigger lock spring. I was planning on doing a trigger job today. Thanks.

He probably means the trigger return and trigger guard latch spring, you know the small one. The other is the mainspring. No internal locks on the GP's. :D
