Timney triggers in M77

MidSouth Shooters Supply had a good sale with free shipping on Timney triggers recently, so I bought two for tang safety 77s. Started putting one in my old flatbolt .308 RS today - this old rifle has always been very accurate and I thought a really good trigger might tighten my groups a bit more. It turned out to be a bit more involved than I expected. Fitting the actual trigger to the action wasn't too bad, though a bit of fitting was required. But there's also a good bit of inletting work to do on the stock. I'm going to have to make a run to town tomorrow and get some additional Dremel tool tips to be able to finish the job. Anyone else done one of these?

Did a Hawkeye LH about 8 years ago. Not much work but did need to Dremel the stock a bit. The instructions I had said I would need to. A Dremel tool is my gun working friend. The time-consuming part was Dremel a little and put gun back together several times until the safety fits and works. As I recall it was a safety part that extra room was needed.

I put a Timney in my 77 with the safety on the bolt. Drimel work was required.

I also put a Timney in a Browning X bolt and inletting the stock was necessary.

These jobs are not for the squeamish.

I picked up some new Dremel tool cutters today, and ordered a set of small wood working chisels for inletting, something I've been meaning to get anyway.

I picked up some new Dremel tool cutters today, and ordered a set of small wood working chisels for inletting, something I've been meaning to get anyway.

Good idea. On mine, I found the area that needed to be dremeled out to fit. And with that tool it was all done inside the stock. So when put back together, no sign of the work I did inside.
Dermel is also handy for preparing a stock for glass bedding and helps with barrel channel work. I have done all that on some rifles.
