Tiger in Henry County GA

So there was a tiger loose by the Interstate this morning. I actually travelled through this area & made a store stop close to where all this happened at about 4:00 this morning.

I read that earlier, but at that time the owner hadn't been located. How in the hell does a tiger being transported escape unnoticed?

A beautiful animal died because of human error

I'd say the transport company has some 'splainin to do. It will be interesting to see if they are charged with any kind of negligence, public endangerment, or ?? Then there is their liability to the owner.

To be honest I am somewhat surprised the responsible party 'fessed up. I guess with the computer chip they figured they would get found out anyway. I somewhat expected it to be like the bull that was hit in the middle of the road up the street from my house in the pre-dawn hours that totaled a late model Ford truck. No one has admitted to owning it yet.

A little nuts I guess but this got me to thinking about what I would do if I were to walk out the front door & see one of these in my yard. Not sure if I would come back in call the law & wait on them or come back in get the Winchester & eliminate it. Just too dangerous to have running around loose.

Does make one think. Should I load up my 7x57 with good old 173 gr. round nose ammo just as Jim Corbett would have done? Or maybe my Ruger #1 .375 H&H, .404 Jeffery or .416 Rigby???? actually the truth of the matter I would most likely grab my .35 Whelen with the 225 gr. Barnes TSX bullets and be well armed. I figure any bullet that will shoot through an elk from exhaust pipe to appetite should work just fine. :roll: But then, what are the odds of a tiger or any other big cat show up in my back yard. He'd have to first jump an 8' cyclone fence, then put up with the racket my little dog that thinks he's a Great Dane letting me know of the intruder. I'd watch the cat and let my wife do the 911 thing. Could get very interesting. :shock: :roll: :lol: :lol: :lol:

Dang Paul it would seem you have more options in the long gun category than I do. I would probably just use my deer rifle. It is a post 64 (the version that wasn't liked as much) model 70 in .30-06. I suspect it would do the job though.

I was working night shift in Boston. Lots of back alley access and stuff. A gorilla escaped from the Franklin Park zoo. I was afraid I was going to find him by accident. I was glad when he got caught.

Kind of funny part of the story......on the news they had pictures of the gorilla at a bus stop. The anchor man said he looked like a METCO student waiting for the bus.

METCO is a program to get inner city kids out to the more suburbian schools. The suburbian schools were well know to hand pick the big kids (most of whom were black) from the inner city to pad their football teams.

The poor anchor man got suspended for a racial slur. Comparing the gorilla to a football player.

I just realized it really isn't a funny story, but take it for what it is.

I understand you being relieved to learn the gorilla had been caught. The other story is just life-people being people.
