Speeding crackdown to start Monday 7/13 in AL, SC, TN, GA, and FL

On interstate 80 There a couple of notorious speed traps. About 30 miles east and west of Lovelock Nevada and they were hardass about it. Fines were quite high, somewhere in the $200+ range. My late mother in law, God rest her soul got a speeding ticket for being two MPH over the then 65 MPH.

The other was in a pass between Winnemucca and Battle Mountan Nevada. One highway patrolman was a sneaky S.O.B.. CB radios were popular at the time and truckers would call out about road conditions and are there any smokies. They'd get a reply that it was clean and green and the truckers would hit the foot feed.

One time I was riding with a co-worker who was also an auxillary cop, his best buddy who was a Highway Patrolman and me. I told the co-worker to pick me up at 6 AM IIRC. H grab a rife was a no show until about 7 so I was a bit put out and almost didn't bother take a rifle. I was to be their guide and it was the very last day of the season. Well, I took a rifle and we're going like a bat out of hell through the pass and sure enough the red lights started flashing. This hust was startibt great and would alsost get a lot worse. Well. co-worker knew the HP cop and the HP cop in the truck also knew the HP cop that stopped us so about 5 minutes of BSing we were on our way.

End result of that hunt, co-worker got a doe, I got a doe, HP guy gut shot and lost a nixe forkerd horn. I almost bagged that HP guy was he ran tight in front of me as I was drawing do to try and stop the gut shot deer. You have no Idea what it's like to see nothing but blonde hair in your scope. To this day I have no idea what stopped my squeeze on that trigger.

I did tell my co-worker he was welcome to hunt with me anytime but keep his HP friend away from me on any future hunts. Yes, I told him why.

I'd love to be brave enough when pulled over and haded the ticket to just give the cop twice as much cash and say this is because I'll be coming back through later on today.
now I had to clean my screen again - too funny..... You'd might be surprised just how a good sense of humor and proper timing can get you out of a bind.....

kind of like that old joke - - -
A man is flying down the highway at 90 mph when he notices police lights in his rearview mirror. Instead of pulling over, he panics and hits the gas, pushing his car to 100, then 110 mph. Finally, realizing the futility of his escape, he pulls over to the side of the road.
The officer cautiously approaches the car and says, "Sir, I've been chasing you for miles. Since it's the end of my shift, I'll let you off if you can give me one good reason you were speeding".
The man takes a deep breath and replies, "Well, officer, about a year ago, my wife ran off with a state trooper. When I saw your lights in my mirror, I was terrified you were trying to bring her back".
The cop pauses, smiles, and says, "Have a nice day, sir".

but in today's world, cops are just expected to be robots and issue all tickets, no exception, no excuses, no rational judgement exercised, so I guess just give them what they ask for and write um! 🤷‍♂️
