I’ve been throwing knives since my pre teen years. I didn’t see a thread for them, apologies if I missed it.

Here are mine, nothing special. The star I made from a 4” electric cover. I think I was around 12. It sticks with authority every time and has held up remarkably well. I figured, if it worked I’d take my time on the next one. Never needed another. 😂

I bought these to give away if someone expresses an interest after throwing mine.

The wife and I have been throwing knives for a while now. Have an A frame that holds a 30 in log round we throw into. Funny story from a few years back when we first started throwing knives. My wife and I got good at throwing knives and so I threw my 6 knives around the target and had my wife weave her arm through the knives, I then took a picture and sent it to my son telling him we are ready to take our act on the road! A minute later my wife gets a call from my son yelling DON'T LET DAD DO THAT HE'S NOT THAT GOOD WITH THROWING KNIVES!
ps Would love the throwing knives if you are giving them away.

When I was a kid my Dad had a original Fairborn Sykes that he carried in the Military..he told me he used to throw it and showed me how...so of course as soon as he would leave I would get the knife and start throwing it into a tree in the yard...yup...broke the tip off his cherished knife..

very interested in learning more , where to start ? Utube videos ? or others ? type of knife or tomahawk ect
For knife throwing, Stinger actually puts out ( or did put out ) a tutorial DISC. I like it better, because I can have play next to me on a a small player, and freeze and loop it on the technique that I am practicing. They probably have it for download now. EDIT: Just found this, but haven't watched it, so I am just passing it on without judgement:

I used to set my targets up like that on a frame. Now I drive a rail spike in to the side of a chunk of firewood and tie a rope to it. Throw the rope over a limb a tie it to the tree trunk like a tire swing.

You don't have to move it to mow around that way and you move it around easy. Tomahawks, axe, knives. Swing it or spin it or spin AND swing it. We "nail" cards to it with little sticks to throw at. At Thanksgiving and other gatherings it is pretty popular for everyone put a card on there and take turns throwing at it. If you card gets cut you are out. Of course the throw has to stick to count.

There are a lot of different games to play the more guys you get hanging around to throw. I picked up the hobby at the NMLRA Rendezvous back in the '70's.

All my hawks, knives, and edged things for throwing are from HBForge.com.

Tomahawks are easy. They have more points and tend to stick more often.

Knives pick one with a minimal handle preferably no handle at all. Practice sticking it in a board on the floor with the grain. Now stand the board up.

If you double the distance it will hit butt first, triple the distance it will stick the same as it did in the floor. Its all about gaging distance and the spin.

I always thought it was kind of dumb, in movies , that someone could throw a knife and stick it in deep enough to cause instantaneous death. Especially in the upper torso.

As a fellow once taught me. So you've thrown your knife. Now what? Knives , spears and swords are contact weapons. Once thrown they are much good to you. The greatest spear army was probably the Zulu They didn't throw them they stabbed with them. If you wand to "throw" primitive weapons, throw arrows.

Dad told me once upon a time (when I thought throwing knives was really cool) that throwing your knife away was DUMB. Either get close enough to use it in your hand or stay out of the fight.
I assume he gained this knowledge during his participation in the Anzio beachhead where the Americans and Germans fought nightly over the observation points for artillery direction and control.
A knife is a 'messy' weapon.

I’m sure there are times when throwing a knife would be effective, but you don’t want to throw your last or only knife!

It takes a lot of omph to stick a knife as far into a target as deep as it goes when you throw it. Also a spinning sharp knife doesn’t have to stick to cause damage.

I would feel much better relying on a tomahawk than a knife.

Since I still throw like a girl, I can understand that one! :) Keep and use the weapon. Throwing knives are fun to watch and see.

I have ruined several knives from a young age by throwing them. Became good with several. Large screwdrivers can work well too. My favorite throwing knife is a custom made large Bowie axe style. It could definitely kill someone or something. It has a sharpened edge and I've stuck it in logs so deep I had trouble getting it out. Still have several. Need to get them out next summer.

First, as far as burying one in the right place- one can- easily. Second, real throwers carry several, usually around six per holster. Thursday, real shuriken ( not the practice ones with the 1/4' safety nub) are just as deadly. My wrist holster holds six.

There are true stories of people throwing knives to take out wild hogs and enemy sentries; but they are uncommon.

Have you seen the Torpedo from cold steel ...

No. Do you have one?
My collection is very much like yours
I do not have the torpedo yet , the concept of having a point on each end is fantastic , besides it looks almost indestructable , i have broken
A few throwing knives .
If I like them I will buy several
They look wicked

Back in the day, I had hung a huge pine tree trunk slice next to my house in VA. I had several tomahawks and some Gil Hibben throwing knives. Taught my 12-year-old daughter and 8-year-old son how to throw. We had a great time!
